Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashford Tony Award winner actor has worked with many acclaimed actors and directors on stage and screen. The award-winning actress continues her career with her upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's Hulu-exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. In the form of an Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford is set to return in 2023 and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The same team that created Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at leading the show. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. Ashford was a part of two seasons in CBS successful comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. For this performance, she was awarded the Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
