Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for the Olympic contest. Bela Karrolyi was an Romanian gymnastics instructor, who was later Comaneci's coach, first discovered Comaneci when she was just six years old. She first competed in the national junior championships in 1969 and finished 13th. She was the winner in 1970. Her first ever international contest in 1972, she won the event having won three golds. At her first competition as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion winning four gold medals and one silver. The first female to complete the reverse double salo of the bar with a parallel surface when she won the American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her career in entertainment as a teenager. She started her career performing figure skating alongside Nina Wayne, her younger sister, in the traveling entertainment show Ice Capades. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating performance.
